Sharyn Johnston

Bio:

Sharyn Johnston is the passionate Head of Education for the World Tea Academy, she crafts and leads a suite of 30 tea courses including Certified Tea Sommelier, Certified Tea Blender and Certified Tea Specialist.

Sharyn is also an influential tea industry leader with a global footprint. After a long corporate career and working in over 20 different countries, she founded Australian Tea Masters and subsequently established the largest tea blending operation in Australia, catering to over 250 private labels worldwide. Australian Tea Masters is now recognised as the leading organisation for tea education globally with international offices in Singapore, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Sharyn is regularly asked to speak at tea conferences around the world and is a regular presenter at World Tea Expo educating in specialty teas, botanicals and tea business development. 

Sharyn authored definitive guides on tea and developed the tea flavour wheel ,tea colour wheel and an Aroma Training Kit which are now used globally. She is also an esteemed author of the books; Australian Tea Masters: Tea sommelier book and Australian Tea Masters Tea Blending book, which are used as guides for tea enthusiasts and professionals. The Tea Sommelier book was also nominated as one of the top five books in the world and has recently released its second edition.

Sharyn Johnston is deeply committed to advancing the recognition of small tea farmers around the world and ,promoting their hard work and supporting the value of their teas.

With a heartfelt passion for sustainable practices, she actively collaborates with the local growers, visiting tea farms globally and helping to empower them through education and equitable business opportunities. 

Sharyn is also a respected international tea competition judge and an advisory board member of the Tea Masters Cup.
