For this year’s Origins Tasting Tour for China, we focus on this immensely popular Wu Long (Oolong) from Wu Yi Shan known for its unparalleled bold, roasted aroma and substantial molten-stone mouth feel, often referred to as the "rock bone." One of the most expensive teas in the world, Yan Cha —translated sometimes as "Cliff Tea," sometimes as "Rock Tea" — is surrounded by numerous myths and intimidates tea drinkers with its myriad location and varietal names. But fear not! In this tasting tour, Shunan Teng from Tea Drunk will break down Yan Cha knowledge bit by bit for you. By the time you have finished sampling all the teas, you will be well ahead most tea snobs and have built a solid foundation with which to navigate Yan Cha further, cultivating the knowledge and intuition of a true tea connoisseur.

Where is tea grown in South Korea? What types of tea does Korea produce? Why is Korean tea so unique in flavour and where does the flavour profile sit on the tea wheel? The Korean tea plant and the style of processing? Korean tea shops abound in Korea but why don’t they sell tea? Why the Korean tea ceremony, ceramics and history are a very important aspect of the tea culture. The only “gold” tea in the world is produced in Korea. What is Korean breakfast tea and why was it produced? Have all of these questions answered as we "tour" Korea. We will also taste three rare teas of Korea in the session.
