Sebastian Michaelis - The Man with the Million Pounds Taste Buds

Sebastian Michaelis is the Director of Tea Buying and Blending at Tata Global Beverages (International), the second largest tea packer in the world. Sebastian started his career at TGB 15 years ago and over that time has managed the tea sourcing of all major tea origins for the group. He oversaw the company's ethical sourcing program, supporting producers on their journey towards Rainforest Alliance certification. As an experienced tea taster, Sebastian has represented the Tetley brand with multiple TV and radio appearances following the company’s decision to insure his taste-buds for £1m.

Join us for an up close and personal discussion with filmmaker Christy Hui, as she takes you behind the scenes in the making of 9 DRAGONS TEA. From development to filming, hear how she pieces together the puzzling history of tea: from its Chinese origins to the Boston Tea Party and industrial theft by the British. For over three centuries, this extraordinary drink changed the world and dominated Western tastes and economics. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
