WORLD TEA EXPO BRINGS FIRST TEA AUCTION TO U.S. --Save 40% on registration before November 19-- Las Vegas, NV – October 31, 2005 – The World Tea Expo, the nation’s premier marketplace for the tea industry, has announced that it will host the first Tea Auction ever to be held in the United States. The auction, featuring premium specialty teas from Nilgiri, India, will take place during this year’s Expo. Registration for the Expo has begun and attendees can register quickly and easily online at www.worldteaexpo.com. Buyers who register for the World Tea Expo between now and November 19 will receive 40% off the cost of registration for the exhibit hall and seminars. The Expo will be held at the Las Vegas Hilton on March 27-29, 2006. The Tea Auction, organized by the World Tea Expo, the Nilgiri Planters Association, and the Tea Board of India, will give buyers an opportunity to bid on 42 of the Nilgiri region’s finest teas. The auction will take place at the Expo on Wednesday March 29, 2006. The evening before the event there will be a special tasting of all the teas to be auctioned. Buyers who register before March 13 will also receive samples of all the teas prior to the auction. The World Tea Expo, the first-ever trade show in North America dedicated solely to the tea industry, was built on a commitment to providing the most comprehensive resources necessary to serve the industry and spur its growth. Since the Expo’s inception, the market for tea in the US has experienced exponential growth and the introduction of new brands is on the rise. The show has both facilitated and reflected this growth and this year will, once again, be the focal point for a very hot industry. After growing more than 200% in the two years since its inception in 2003 as Take Me 2 Tea, the Expo has been re-branded as the World Tea Expo. This new identity more accurately reflects the Expo’s growth, scope, and position in the international tea industry. “The past few years have shown an incredible spike in the demand for specialty teas,” says George Jage, president of the World Tea Expo. “We’re proud to have been a part of that trend and look forward to driving industry growth once again in 2006.” This year’s show will host approximately 200 companies from around the world and 3,000 buyers are expected. There will be a number of special events to educate, entertain, and connect members of the industry including cooking with tea demonstrations, Chinese and Japanese tea ceremonies, an Iced Tea Shake-Off competition, and 45 educational seminars.
