This statement expresses the ancient Oriental understanding that every aspect of tea offers us an invitation to develop clarity, slow down, relax and reduce stress. Come learn how tea, from its rituals to its chemical composition, invites us into the present moment. No previous meditation experience required.  
       
  By the end of this session you will be able to:  
   
  1. Describe the common historical roots of meditation and tea.
  2. List 5 qualities or aspects that tea and meditation share.
  3. Identify the essential chemical components of tea that contribute to clarity, slowing down, relaxing, and reducing stress.
  4. Describe the defining elements of meditation.
  5. Identify the essential elements of steeping and drinking tea that create rituals and their effects on well-being.

Donna Fellman
Director, Tea Education Alliance
       
  As director of the Tea Education Alliance (T.E.A), Donna offers professional consulting and staff training programs, and publishes educational materials about tea. She is co-author of Tea Here Now, (Inner Ocean Publishing, 2005) exploring a relationship to tea as a teacher and a lifestyle. She holds the chair of STI's Education Committee and leads the STE Certification Program. Donna has been a student of chanoyu, the Japanese tea ceremony, through the Urasenke Foundation since 1997 and has been a meditation practitioner for 25 years.
Lhasha Tizer
The Way of Wellness
       
  Lhasha Tizer, M.S. has a diverse background in mindfulness meditation, wellness, nutrition, tea ceremony, stress reduction, grief and loss, and pain management. She has studied the Vipassana Buddhist tradition of meditation with Dharma teachers from both the insight Meditation society and Spirit Rock teachers Collective. she teaches Mindfulness meditation classes through Tucson Community Meditation Center and Meraval Life in Balance Resort in Catalina, AZ. Lhasha facilitates weekly classes in tea appreciation and ceremony and is a student of the Japanese tea ceremony, chanoyu for the past 8 years. She is a Community Dharma Leader through the mentorship of Anna Douglas. She is co-author of TeaHereNow and has also produced a meditation CD "Meditations with Lhasha".
